When did the first episode of One Piece air?

October 20th, 1999 Release Date for One Piece/First Episode Toei Animation produced the first season of the One Piece anime series, which was directed by Kounosuke Uda. The season, which broadcast on Fuji Television from October 20, 1999 to March 14, 2001, was adapted from the first twelve volumes of Eiichiro Oda's manga.

During its run, the season achieved high ratings and is considered one of the biggest successes in Japanese television history. The second season aired from January to December 2002 and covered the remaining forty-one volumes of the manga. It also became a success with audiences and has been praised for its improvement over the first season.

One Piece is scheduled to be released in digital format by Funimation on August 4, 2014.

The first season contains episodes that can be viewed in any order but due to content differences between the original manga and the anime adaptation some events may occur differently in the animated version. For example, in the manga chapter 6 occurs after chapter 5 but before chapter 7 while in the anime it follows chapter 7 then 6 then 5 then 4. This is because the author of the manga, Eiichiro Oda, owns the rights to his work and can do with it as he pleases. In this case, he decided that it would be better if readers didn't know what happened to Luffy until later in the series.

Luffy's strength increases by 100 times when he turns fifteen years old (volume 3).
